Brian Curnow

Funeral Director/Embalmer

Brian Curnow is a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer with over 40 years of experience in funeral service and is a past President of the Washington State Funeral Directors Association. He was born in Tacoma and raised in the Puyallup area alongside his four older siblings, Brian’s journey in funeral care began the day after he graduated from high school in 1985. That’s when he joined Pierce and Elinor Powers at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup, fulfilling his childhood ambition of becoming a funeral director and beginning his funeral service career of serving families during their most difficult times.

After graduating from mortuary college in 1987, he returned to Powers Funeral Home and its parent company, The Loewen/Alderwoods Group. While working for The Loewen Group, he became General Manager of three funeral homes and a cemetery. He later became the Market Leader for the Seattle Market, overseeing 13 funeral homes and 6 cemeteries.

In 2003, Brian pursued his dream of building a family-centered funeral home by opening Funeral Alternatives of WA. in Sumner, later renaming it to Curnow Funeral Home & Cremation Service in 2005. He was also given the opportunity to purchase Hill Funeral Home in Puyallup from its longtime owners, Terry and Lu Davies. For nearly two decades, Brian provided thoughtful, affordable services to his community before selling the businesses and renting the three properties to Foundation Partners Group (based in Winter Park, FL.) in 2019.

After stepping back from funeral service for a few years, he felt a renewed calling in 2025 to establish a new family-owned funeral home. His mission remains the same: to offer cremation and burial services with a focus on care, dignity, and reasonable pricing.

When he’s not serving families, Brian enjoys golfing, snow skiing and traveling. He’s also an active member in his church community. Brian and his wife, Trudi, are proud parents to five children.
