Marvin Claude Sullivan

July 31, 1947 — June 25, 2025

Marvin Claude Sullivan, 77, passed away suddenly on June 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and hard-earned wisdom. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend. Marvin lived a life of purpose, humor, and quiet strength grounded in loyalty, hard work, and deep affection for those he held dear.

Born on July 31, 1947, in Long Beach, California, Marvin was the kind of person who made you feel at home whether you were sitting around a campfire, riding shotgun, or simply sharing a cup of coffee on the back porch. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, then returned home to begin a long and respected career as a truck driver with Superior Fast Freight, ABF and later as a bus driver for White River School District.

Marvin married the love of his life, Donita, in 1973. For 52 years, their marriage was a foundation of mutual respect, deep friendship, and shared adventures, from raising a family to spontaneous road trips and late-night laughter. Together, they built a life that was rich in the things that matter most: love, family, and time well spent.

He was a proud father to Michael Sullivan (Veronica) and Mindy McLane (William), and an adoring grandfather to Levi Henson (Bea), Aaron Henson (Charlene), Taylor McLane (Austin), and Jonathan. Marvin also had the joy of watching his family grow into a new generation, becoming “Papa” to two great-grandchildren, Sophitia Barrientos and Baker Henson.  A role he loved and cherished deeply.

Marvin had a heart full of mischief and a quick wit. He never passed up the chance to poke gentle fun or offer up his dry humor. He loved camping under the stars, a hot cup of black coffee, and an ice-cold beer at the end of the day. He didn’t ask for much, just good company, and a bit of peace and quiet (which he rarely got and secretly loved).

He is survived by his wife Donita; his children, Michael and Mindy; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother Alvin; extended family members and many friends who will miss his laugh, his stories, advice, his steady presence and warm hugs.

A celebration of Marvin’s life will be held on July 26th at Buckley Eagles at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Make a Wish foundation, Rainier State School in Buckley or any foundation supporting children.

Marvin lived the kind of life that doesn’t make headlines but makes all the difference in the world. He was a good man. A strong one. And he will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving him.
