Harold “Hal” Bert Strassburg, Jr. died unexpectedly on January 20, 2026, at his residence in Buckley, WA. He was born in Minnesota, February 16, 1940, the oldest of five children to Marion Lorraine (Johnson) and Harold Bert Strassburg, Sr. When he was a small child, his family relocated from Minnesota to Washington State where he resided for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Orting High School in 1957.
Hal had two great loves during his lifetime; his high school sweetheart, Lula Mae (Boster) whom he married in June 1960 and was with until her death in 2000, and Faith (Irish) in 2001 until the time of his passing.
Hal served a brief stent in the US Army in the early 1960’s and was stationed in Germany where his daughter was born. He worked predominantly in the logging industry for St. Regis/Champion until which time he went to work for Doug Britschgi Inc. whom he retired from. He enjoyed camping trips to the ocean beaches of Washington State, working in his yard, reading a good book, rooting on the UW Huskies, Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, and Kracken. He was a great at puzzling – both crosswords and jigsaw and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a Charter Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3480 Orting, WA.
Hal was preceded in death by his father, Harold Sr., mother, Marion, and brother, Don Strassburg of Orting, WA. He is survived by his love, Faith Irish of Buckley, daughter, Carol Strassburg, and daughter-in-law Betsy, of Richland, WA., son Tom Strassburg, and daughter-in-law Sue of University Place, WA, three grandchildren Lane, Cole, and Samatha, two great-grandchildren Jaime and Natalie, sisters, Shirley, Betty, Susan, and sister-in-law Sandie.
Burial arrangements are being coordinated by Valley Burial & Cremation of Puyallup, WA. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Orting Eagles Club in Orting, WA on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM.
