Frederick “Craig” Roberts, of Sumner, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at the age of 79, following his courageous battle against cancer.

Born on March 23, 1947, Craig was a devoted father, brother, veteran, and friend. He lived a life marked by service, adventure, and a deep love for his family and the people closest to him.

Craig grew up in Northern California before heading to college where he did swim and dive competitively and played football for Washington State University. He later served his country in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam from 1969 to 1974. He remained quietly proud of his military service throughout his life.

Following his time in the Army, Craig moved to western Washington and soon worked for Tucci & Sons, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. He also took great pride in the South Puget Sound, calling Tacoma and Sumner home. Craig appreciated the community, his friends and familiar watering holes that made the area such a fun and meaningful place to live.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching sports, and a glass of whiskey while cheering on the Seattle Seahawks. Above all, he valued feeding his family and friends gathered for a visit or holiday.

Craig took particular pride in his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Leonard Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Monica, his sister, Marne, and brother-in-law, Neale Sivisend; his son, David Roberts and his wife, Megan; his daughters, Megan Wiese and her husband, Marc, and Sonja George and her husband, Aggie; his eight grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

Craig will be remembered for his servanthood, his steady and hardworking nature, his love of fishing and sports, and the pride and happiness he found in his family. His life and legacy will be remembered with gratitude, and he will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Please join in an open house style Celebration of Life on August 29th from 1-5pm at Farrelli’s Banquet Room in Sumner. As Craig would do, please join us and wear your favorite Coug or Seahawk gear!
