Arthur John Morford

Arthur John "John" Morford was born on September 24, 1945, in Wapato, Washington, to Arthur and Edna Morford. He passed away peacefully at his home in Des Moines, Washington, on May 11, 2026.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; his sons, Dale and Alan; his daughter, Jennifer; and his cherished grandchildren, Drake, Tatumn, and Layla. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose love for his family was at the center of his life.

John attended school in White Swan, Washington, and graduated from White Swan High School in 1963. Soon after, he began a lifelong career behind the wheel, earning his CDL and becoming a professional truck driver. In 1966, John proudly answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He served until 1969 and was stationed in Germany, where he continued to drive semi-trucks, combining his military service with the work he loved.

Throughout his career, John worked for several respected companies, including Lynden Transport and OMA Construction. However, some of his favorite years were spent driving log truck for Beattie & Sanger and Zwight, both jobs he took great pride in and often spoke about with fondness.

Beyond his work, John was an avid classic car enthusiast and drag racer. If you lined up against John on the track, you knew exactly who you were racing, and he always had a story to tell about the experience. His passion for cars and racing brought him many friendships and countless memories.

In 1980, John married the love of his life, Joanne Richards. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, loyalty, and lasting friendships.

John lived a full and memorable life. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the open road, his enthusiasm for fast cars, his storytelling, and, above all, his unwavering devotion to his family and friends.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well lived, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service is planned for John on July 17th, 2026, 11am @ the Zillah Cemetery in Zillah WA.
