Andrew (Andy) John Sarandos was born on December 22, 1949, in City of Long Branch, New Jersey. Moving to Arizona to be closer to family in the 60s and then eventually settling in Washington for most of his adult life, passed away on October 28, 2026.
Andy was a tradesman in the plumbing industry retiring from the Seattle School District.
Andy liked to hike and camp but loved his road trips to the ocean and all the beautiful sights throughout the States.
He survived on meat and potatoes but mostly candy bars. Andy had the ultimate sweet tooth.
Survived Lois Kinsey Sarandos, twin brother Alex Sarandos, sister, Lois Sarandos Miller, brother Phil Sarandos, son Andrew Sarandos, Jr, (grandchildren Adam Sarandos and Brooke Sarandos) daughter Joanna Grochowski (grandchildren, Andrew Grochowski, Jayme Spencer, and Jenell Grochowski).
Preceded by death, father, Andrew Sarandos, sister JoAnn Rangel and Mary Hauschild.
Andy leaves behind his wife, Sandra Sarandos (daughter Emily Burdick and granddaughter Kira Sisneros). Loving mother-in-law, Renate Viney and loving in laws.
Additional loving Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Great Grandchildren, and more cousins than we can count.
Words from his loving mother. Andy was a happy child, always laughing and smiling. One of my fondest memories was him and his twin brother Alex graduating kindergarten in their little cap and gowns.
He would do anything to make his friends laugh. He went as far as eating a worm. I will miss him terribly but take comfort knowing I will see him again. I will love and miss him for the rest of my life.
Words from his loving wife Sandra. We spent 30 years together exploring the states including Hawaii, Arizona, Oregon, and many parts of Washington from the mountains to the waterfalls. Numerous road trips to the ocean, where we always seemed to find a casino nearby to spend the hours. Through our many years, raising children, grandchildren, and more fur babies than we can count. It was a wonderful journey. Rest in Peace my Love.
Words from his twin brother Alex. One of my favorite memories with brother Andy was when I visited him years ago in Washington. We drove to Mt. Rainier and hiked up to the glaciers above the cloud line. It was fantastic.
Words from his sister Lois. Andy was a wonderful brother. Always funny, kind, and loving. We spent a lot of time together when I moved to WA. Road trips and great experiences. He taught me to drive his stick shift car on the sand at Ocean Shores. I will always treasure those times. He will always have a special place in my heart.
Words from the baby brother, Phil. Although Andy was grown and out of the family home by time I was born, I did get to spend time with him while I was growing up. We had some great times camping at Haigler Creek and spending time at his big property in East Mesa.
Words from his son, Andy Jr. I relocated to Washington to be closer to my dad eleven years ago. I will miss the many trips and adventures we have had over the years, especially our road trip with my son Adam to AZ for a Seahawks game and the trip with my daughter Brooke to see the eclipse.
Words from his daughter, Joanna. I will always remember the wonderful time we had at dinner together with him and my two daughters. While it was a delicious dinner, it was a wonderful visit and a memory that will last a lifetime.
Words from his stepdaughter, Emily. Andy was a good stepfather although I am sure he rolled his eyes multiple times, he always provided a smile and a warm place for me and my daughter.
Words from his step granddaughter, Kira. From Kira, love you, Papa. I will cherish the time we spent snow sledding, and your wonderful guidance.
A celebration of life will be scheduled in the summer.
